I live in n.ireland and went to view a c5 , only 1/2 hour up the road but was just sold as I arrived , I am looking for advice on what to look out for when buying a c5 , what the best companies to get insurance for c5 that covers n.ireland and any companies for car loan for vette! Hi Justin, I'm a C5 owner and I've had my car for just over 12 months now. After reading magazines, looking at various forums and avidly watching YouTube for tips, my advice would be to check everything electrical, service history and find your nearest Corvette or Chevrolet specialist before your purchase (unless you mechanically gifted of course?). My car is a 2004 model which was imported in summer 2017, that was the last year for the C5 and hopefully most of the early model glitches were ironed out bu then? Mine has recently been serviced and MOT'd, the only issues Ive had really are electrical ones. Late last year I purchased a CTEK charger for the car at a cost of approximately £120.00 and it was one of the best things I've ever bought. Whilst the car was stood for some periods during our 'depressive winter' last year, it kept the battery well juiced and I had no more problems with a flat battery. The C5 does suffer from 'battery drain' when left idle, so my best tip for you when you find the right C5 model to buy is just to spend a little more money on a good charger. Recently I watched a YouTube clip where every Corvette from the C1 first generation to the C8 were tested in a wind tunnel and the C5 came out with the best drag coefficient of every single model. Good hunting and get ready for the attention a Corvette brings with it (y)
