I previously had an ‘05 C6 Base Manual (UK spec, so had Z51and all the options), that I bought in 2016, however, after quitting my job to start my own business I sold it in early ‘22 to help raise funds. I didn’t want to sell it as I loved that car, it was very much a head over heart moment.
Since then, I’ve always been wanting to get back into another vette but been trying other cars, currently have a Caterham for track use(which I need to sell as I rarely seem to have time to get it to events) and an F355 for the rare sunny Sunday. Yet I still missed what the C6 offered, it was fun, comfortable, reliable(it did have its odd quirks, but would always start and drive reliably), it always put a massive smile on my face, it felt ‘special’ yet it didn’t feel fragile and although it stands out on the road, it never seemed to attract negative attention.
I’ve periodically scanned the classifieds for another(ideally a Grandsport or Z06), but never come across one that jumped out, especially as the C6’s seem to now be worth more than when I sold mine and with mine being an original UK manual, I felt begrudged to spend more for a base car that were generally imports with less spec.
Then last week, I was unexpectedly offered a low mileage 2010 manual UK car with some impressive provenance, so I obviously jumped on it and I’m now impatiently waiting for it to be with me in a couple of weeks.
It is a base model and I may end up selling it if the right Grandsport or Z06 comes up for sale, but for the time being, I’m just overly happy knowing that I’ll be back in a C6.
