Oil Filter

Hi All
I would imagine this topic has been raised umpteen times. I am just about to do an oil and filter change on my 1980 C3 (400CI engine), when I could not help but notice, that the oil filter (Fram PH30) seems a little on the small side. Would a bigger filter improve oil flow etc, and if so any recommendations. Preferably one that will not poke below the sump.

Fram filters had some really bad publicity in the 'States a couple of years or so ago. Source a filter from one of the UK Yanks parts sources - failing that Rock Auto or Summit Racing. Most of the filter elements are available in differing lengths - logic says that a longer filter will do a better job than a shaller one - best measure available space before choosing?
