Hi , Ive recently bought a 1977 C3 Corvette stingray , On closer inspection i have found alot of issues , wiring not connected and both window motors are missing . It struggles to start . Steering wheel is very loose , ie:side movement at top . There are so many things wrong . The only electrical thing working is front hazzards . Where can I get parts here in UK?
Regards John.

John - there are places, not perhaps as many as a few years ago when you could find breakers yards with bits. Look on eBay for people parting-out Vettes. What part of the UK you live can make a difference if you like to pop down to an American spares specialist. Established Corvette only sales people are Corvette Kingdom, Dromey Corvettes, EMC Performance. Join the CCCUK - go to your local club meeting and make yourself known - it surprising how many owners hang on to bits and pieces (that might be useful to you).

Corvette specific parts would obviously need to come from a specialist supplier like Roscobbc listed. General items ie brakes, steering, consumable items etc can be supplied by various general US vehicle parts suppliers in the U.K.

Are parts cheaper here in UK? Parts from ebay / America can be expensive , then the postage and import charges make very expensive.
I'm looking for 2 window motors.

With corvette specific items, the UK suppliers get them from the USA , same as if you import them yourself. They may get a “trade” discount of sorts. Shipping varies from place to place, UK import duty and VAT is the same or everyone.
A good used motor from the UK could be a reasonable buy, but of course it it used.
It’s always worth checking everybody’s prices, then decide.

Be very careful from who you buy. They seem genuine, helpfull and good but are scammers. I know I’ve just been done ! Don’t part with any money upfront even via pay pal.

John,
The suppliers listed by Roscobbc above are well known to club members and reputable. Along with Eurovettes, you won't go wrong ordering through these companies although they will each have their own pricing and delivery structures. If you need to purchase parts direct from the US then I know personally that Rockauto are very good and deliver to the UK in about four days. Roscobbc also recommends joining CCCUK and he's absolutely right as 'word of mouth' recommendations at club meetings are the best way to establish who delivers the most reliable services.

Times have certainly changed the way we now buy things. Nowadays a click is all that’s needed to purchase something from anywhere in the world. I personally have never been “ripped off” or “scammed “ whether it be parts or actual cars. Some will say I’ve been lucky and perhaps I have.
Certainly all the major specialist corvette supply companies are stateside ie Ecklers, corvette central, paragon to name a few, big companies who will supply what you order. Have no fear in ordering from them. Yes, shipping can be expensive, but posting something IS expensive, just look at the price of a first class stamp.

During the late 80’s we had a strange experience with a reverse scam I suppose you could call it.
A chap showed up to look at a 79 trans am. Liked it, paid for it, said he will pick it up on the weekend. Never saw him again. Kept the car for as long as we needed to, then sold it to somebody else.

Amazing! - all these years later and this rears its head. I couldn't remember where I'd bought the car.....even paid for it 'up-front'.....so good you hung on to it for so long........can I have my money back please (with compound interest) 🙏
Only jesting 😋

Both me and my dad always thought we would hear something sometime about it, but never did. Something must have happened to the chap, and nobody knew anything about his purchase.
