Rare Corvette rental cars

We all know about Hertz renting the Shelby mustang which become know as the “rent a Racer” but they also rented other “specials” over the years. Here’s one.

Chevrolet Corvette Stingray "Ski Car"
In the early Sixties, Hertz purchased a handful of split-window Corvette Stingrays to rent to affluent skiers in Denver, Colorado. They were equipped with 327 cubic-inch V-8 engines, two-speed automatic transmissions, ski racks, and snow tires when they were new. Fewer than 10 exist, and the one you see here sold at Barrett-Jackson for $132,000 last year.

It is a split window, and a “special”
That’s where the “true current value” of a car can be judged, at an auction. People are pledging their money for the item on the block, there and then.
A 1963 SWC in the UK now is easily £100k plus, and the market for such a car is greater in the USA.
