Come on Biden, pull your finger out....
£50K ish for a base model if we had a trade deal... Corvette C8 would clean up.
Even I might like them then :)

Some reasons the C8 will cost more in the RHD version is GM reported a few weeks ago

There are 526 total RHD-specific parts & that 56 BGP worker jobs are impacted when an RHD Corvette comes down the assembly line.
Also, line is slowed down some as people at BGP lets say always work on the left side of the Corvette assembly line
and used to be installing those parts, now have to install different parts for the same side of car
I assume the cost of shipping to other countries adds to more costs.

In any case as the norm other countries want their products flooded in and sold in the USA with few import costs
but then when our products go to their country, they want to wack us on import fees and other costs.

At the showing of the 2022 model year and changes to BGP they discuss the RHD (1-hour video)

Also, the C8s going to New Zealand and down under

And info on pricing for the UK buyer (is not the cheapest base C8)

European C8 Corvette customers are now getting their 1st look at the new C8 Stingray Corvette as Chevrolet is offering both traditional and Right-Hand Versions of the popular American sports car for the European market.

The first-ever Right-Hand Drive version was unveiled last week at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK with Chevrolet ambassador Oliver Gavin on hand to help with the reveal, as the video below shows.

Corvette buyers in Europe have an exciting number of choices, with 16 different launch versions offered during this rollout period, which is in effect until around the end of the year.

These Launch Editions are offered exclusively in 3LT trim and also come with Magnetic Ride Control, while the Front End Lift will be an available option.
The Coupes come with the Competition seats, while the Convertibles offer the GT2 seats.
The new Corvettes are expected to arrive in European showrooms in October.

A total of 16 exterior and interior color combinations are available on the Launch Editions:

C8 Coupe Paint Colors
  • Arctic White/Jet Black
  • Black/Jet Black
  • Torch Red/Adrenaline Red
  • Shadow Grey Metallic/Natural
  • Rapid Blue/Jet Black
  • Elkhart Lake Blue Metallic/Adrenaline Red
  • Accelerate Yellow Metallic/Jet Black
  • Ceramic Matrix Gray Metallic/Jet Black
Corvette Convertible
  • Torch Red/Jet Black
  • Arctic White/Sky Cool Gray (two-tone)
  • Flare Silver Metallic/Adrenaline Red (two-tone)
  • Zeus Bronze Metallic/Natural (two-tone)
  • Rapid Blue/Sky Cool Gray
  • Elkhart Lake Blue Metallic/Natural
  • Tactical Red Tintcoat/Sky Cool Gray (two-tone)
  • Sebring Orange Tintcoat/Jet Black
Pricing for the UK Launch Editions begins at £81,700 ($113,210 USD) for the Arctic White Coupe and

£87,110 ($120,710 USD) for the Torch Red Convertible.

The other 14 combinations will add
£1,750 ($2,425.50 USD) which includes matching brake calipers, seatbelts, and stitching.
The Front Lift Option adds another £1,580 ($2,189.90 USD).

Thanks for all that information - as you say the UK vehicles are significantly 'loaded' as compared with the USA. Obviously this (with the UK's various taxes) hikes 'our' prices significantly - whilst the Launch Edition colour options availble are OK - if you 'dial down' deeper in to the interior colours that are available (in the specific exterior finishes) IMHO it limits exterior colour choices unless you are happy with rather bland coloured seating and trim. Just my personal opinion - others may be fine with the colour 'palette' - perhaps once GM get a handle on the options and colours UK buyers prefer that'll change.

Is that an additional 526 parts more that the LHD? :)
And as an ex design engineer with a varied design history - planes trains and automobiles etc etc (no i am not Steve Martin) 526 seems an awful lot of changes, if I was the design manager then i would be very disappointed.
Still on a plus side thanks GM for thinking of us in the UK, I hope it sells well over here

Not sure but that is what GM stated as to the build process as maybe the order, position of the parts when building the RHD version
Not as easy thinking about the steering rack, whole console and dash is changing left to right

Go here and build a 2022 C8 example to get an idea IF buying one what is standard and options look and sell for
In any case I'd like to see you all get a C8 and then pound on all those Europe snob so-called sports cars :)

I'd imagine anyone who "wants" an RHD C8 will be able to find something suitable amongst what's available. It would be fascinating to know how the order process is working out. I've not thrown my hat in the ring...

Causing hell over in japan
They dump millions of vehicles to here in the USA alone and then make it tough for people there to buy an American sports car, the Corvette :(

The new mid-engined designed, right-hand-drive, Ferrari-proportioned Corvette C8 is the ‘Vette" that Japan has been waiting for

Popularity in North America, a parts supply issue and an ongoing semiconductor shortage brought on partly by the pandemic all contributed to the delayed arrival in Japan of Chevrolet’s startling new Corvette C8. But at last the car is finally here. And it’s already sold out.

In the U.S., the C8 has been a huge success for parent company General Motors with nearly 9,000 sales in Q4 2020, easily out-selling well-known rivals like the Porsche 718 and 911 and the Mercedes-AMG GT. In fact, the C8 outsold all of its premium sports car competitors combined, with some 21,626 units finding homes in the U.S. in 2020.
The look of the new C8 is winning hearts and minds in Japan.

Meanwhile, in Japan, where the C8 has been getting rave reviews in the local press since its one-year delayed June launch, the car has sold out.
Order one today in Tokyo and you won’t pick it up until spring 2022.
Only 300 units Japan allows, set aside for Japan in 2021, were snapped up in just a few weeks.
Why 300?
GM Japan only sold 294 units of the outgoing C7 model last year and wanted to start conservatively, (BS) or so we are told.
Also, restrictive international supply chains at present only allowed around 300 in for 2021.

It's the Corvette Japan has been waiting for.

Actually the Corvette has been getting such a good wrap in Japan that many Ferrari, Lamborghini and McLaren customers are now considering a switch to their first-ever ‘Vette, something that would never have happened with the old front-engined model.

And that’s exactly what’s capturing the imagination of potential buyers. That new engine.
Plus of course the C8’s unique new look, its inspired handling and significantly upgraded quality levels! Gone is the old front-mounted V8, replaced for the first time by a mid-engined 495 hp 6.2-liter V8 powertrain and an 8-speed DCT.
It also just happens to be the first-ever ‘Vette to get right-hand-drive steering, all factors that make it extremely desirable in Japan.

The first-ever RHD Vette is drawing people into showrooms.

The first-ever RHD Vette is drawing people into showrooms.

According to GM Japan, only 30 percent of previous Corvette owners upgraded to the new C8.
This means that 70 percent are so-called ‘conquest’ customers, having bought a Corvette for the first time. And from what I’m hearing, even traditional owners of Ferrari, Lamborghini and McLaren are even making the switch to the new C8, which has found itself in ‘flavor of the month’ territory. Another pleasing aspect for the local GM staff is a realization that more customers in their 30s are buying a C8 than ever before.

The average age of buyers in Japan up until now has been late 40s to early 50s. To many buyers, they see the new C8 as being a pleasant change, something likened to the transformation from a heavy, bulked up muscular Arnold Schwarzenegger to a trimmer, fitter, more agile martial arts oriented Jason Statham.

One other factor that is drawing customers into Chevrolet showrooms is the C8’s price.
After shipping, import taxes and duties are added to the cost of the car in Japan,
local customers are paying 14 million yen (@$126,500) for a fully-specced, top-of-the-range 3LT model.
That price range puts the C8 at around the same money as a base model 385 hp Porsche 911 Carrera, and under half that of the nearest Ferrari, Lambo or McLaren.

And what New Zealand buyers are paying

Corvette will be coming to New Zealand under the General Motors Special Vehicles (GMSV) umbrella, in right-hand drive, and priced from $154,990.

The Corvette will be available in three trim levels,
starting with the 2LT at $154,990, the 3LT at $169,990, and the 3LT convertible from $184,990.

Powered by a 6.2-litre LT2 V8, the Corvette doesn't need any forced induction to power to 100km/h in just 3.4 seconds. 369kW and 630Nm of torque is sent to the rear wheels through an eight- Interestingly, every single C8 Corvette in New Zealand will come with the Z51 Performance Package, and Front Lift. The General Manager of GMSV New Zealand, Matthew Taylor explains why:

“Overwhelming feedback is that our intended customers are performance enthusiasts, they want to have the ability to experience the C8 Corvette to its fullest potential,” said Mr Taylor.

“With this in mind, we have made the Z51 Performance Package and Front Lift standard on each and every Corvette coming into New Zealand, providing for even more agility and performance capability.”

The Z51 package includes performance dual-mode exhaust, performance suspension with Magnetic Selective Ride Control, larger Brembo® brakes, electronic-limited slip differential, a front splitter, rear fascia-mounted spoiler, extra cooling provisions and specific rear axle ratio.

While a specific delivery date hasn't been given, production of the right-hand drive Corvette is set to kick off in the fourth quarter of 2021

I don't think that the sole UK authorised Corvette franchise actually had a great deal of help from GM. Previous Corvette marketing attempts in the UK were badly flawed. Its not surprising perhaps given the miniscule numbers of American cars sold in the UK. Its ironic really considering that many of the so-called Japanese and German cars marketed here in the UK have actually been manufactured in the USA. Having said that they had been taking deposits for the C8 from a significant number of of interested buyers. The problem selling American cars in the UK is an age old belief that USA cars are poor quality and bad handling cars. Exacerbated by some of the UK's fairly ignorant motoring press unfortunately. FoMoCo's 'gamble' with the RHD Mustang has shown GM that their is a market for RHD vehicles (and one that is expanding in certain countries) - the main problem we see in the UK is the mindset in the typical British buyer that foreign (specifically German) cars are far better than anything else on the market. BMW, Mercedes, Audi and VW have built on this mindset over the last 40 years and have very sophisticated marketing organisations exploiting the mindset. Unfortunately the C8 Corvette has a very long way to go in terms of winning over UK car buyers.

The head of GM is a bitch (Barra) that Obama forced onto GM and that was before she ruined all GM sales in Europe, South Korea and aussie land
She really can care less about V8 gas engines as she is too busy blowing billions of dollars on the electric crap
(if not hearing GM has had to recall every fricking car of 1 model that is electric as setting itself on fire)

I have owned Corvettes since 1975 and drove all of them hard, countless races and never once blew an engine
GM V8s are bullets., IF properly maintained

Yes we hear it all the time how the Europe snobs here in USA claim how much better their cars are but look at any junkyard in
the USA and there are tons of them rotting
World speed and distance records were owned by American cars like the Corvette, not from Europe and race series like IMSA is owned by Corvette and not Europe nameplates.
But guess what ?
The largest group of people buying the C8 are those who have owned non-American cars here in USA

I have a 1993 big ass tank Caddy Deville 60 special, 4.0L engine I have owned for 22 plus years and has over 225,000 miles on it, and it still does not burn oil and with the custom tune I did for it that tank can burn rubber :)

Just imagine how old this Caddy is and the paint still shines, no rust and lived in Northwest snow weather to the 100 F deg now in Texas

With long-distance driving here, huge elevation changes, our power and drivetrains need to be build solid

93caddy.jpg

If cannot getting a 2022 C8 in the UK, at least try and get on order list for next year's 2023 Z06 with the flat plane crank engine that red lines at 7,000 RPMs and being natural aspirated around 600 plus flywheel HP

Big announcement on this in about 4 weeks when GM goes public !

Interesting how people trust cars from germany, italy and japan and badmouth American iron

Hell, the 3 of them together could not when a war with what they produce

The headlong 'rush' from car manufacturers here in the UK (wrong, wrong, wrong - not car manufacturers - car suppliers and assemblers her in the UK) to supply electric only vehicles 'pushed' by our government 'banning' at first the sale of fossil fueled cars and then later hybrid cars is really, really badly thought out. With no investment in new power generating stations in the UK and most of the existing fossil fueled stations comming off-line and the plans to build/replace the nuclear power stations stalled........where is all the power to fuel electric vehicles coming from? - wind farms are only any good when there's a breeze blowing. We'll be importing power via the undersea cable from France and be charged inflated figures for what we use.......assuming of course that France and Europe have enough power to spare..............
I see that some E Ray test vehicles are being see around and about in the 'States - wonder how much they'll be when released?

Do not know what your electrical power plant structure is in the UK but here in America there is no existing power stations that could handle millions
of vehicles getting charged, nor does any amount of buildings even have the electrical amperage or charging systems to support this country wise
Imagine the monthly costs per vehicle to keep them charged up or imagine place of work having to have charging stations

GM has been at this electric crap for many years and to this day cannot get it right, much less having the cars burn to the ground
Now have class action lawsuits and having to recall like the Bolt model, tens of thousands of them

From last month

General Motors is voluntarily expanding the current Chevrolet Bolt EV recall to cover the remaining 2018 and all 2020-2022 model year vehicles, including the Bolt EUV.
In circumstances, the batteries supplied to GM for these vehicles may have two manufacturing defects – a torn anode tab and folded separator – present in the same battery cell, which increases the risk of fire.
Out of an abundance of caution, (BS it is all the lawsuits) GM will replace defective battery modules in Chevrolet Bolt EVs and EUVs with new modules, with an expected additional cost of approximately $1 billion.

“Our focus on safety and doing the right thing for our customers guides every decision we make at GM,” said Doug Parks, GM executive vice president, Global Product Development, Purchasing and Supply Chain. “As leaders in the transition to an all-electric future, we know that building and maintaining trust is critical. GM customers can be confident in our commitment to taking the steps to ensure the safety of these vehicles.”

After further investigation into the manufacturing processes at LG and disassembling battery packs, GM discovered manufacturing defects in certain battery cells produced at LG manufacturing facilities beyond the Ochang, Korea, plant. GM and LG are working to rectify the cause of these defects. In the meantime, GM is pursuing commitments from LG for reimbursement of this field action.

This new recall population includes:
  • 9,335 (6,989 in the U.S. and 1,212 in Canada) – 2019 model year Bolt EVs that were not included in the previous recall
  • 63,683 (52,403 in the U.S. and 9,019 in Canada) – 2020–2022 model year Chevrolet Bolt EVs and EUVs (over 75,000 vehicles)
To provide customers peace of mind, batteries with these new modules will come with an 8-year/100,000-mile limited warranty (or 8-year/160,000 km limited warranty in Canada).
GM is working aggressively with LG to increase production as soon as possible. GM will notify customers when replacement parts are ready.

Until customers in the new recall population receive replacement modules, they should:

1. Set their vehicle to a 90 percent state of charge limitation using Target Charge Level mode. Instructions on how to do this are available on chevy.com/boltevrecall. If customers are unable to successfully make these changes, or do not feel comfortable making these changes, GM is asking them to visit their dealer to have these adjustments completed.

2. Charge their vehicle more frequently and avoid depleting their battery below approximately 70 miles (113 kilometers) of remaining range, where possible.

3. Park their vehicles outside immediately after charging, and should not leave their vehicles charging indoors overnight. ! ! !

Suspect seeing a Grand Sport or ZR1 that comes next with electric front wheel for all-wheel drive and the E-Ray within 2 years from that
