Sure is some messed up Corvettes in the UK

This is about a 2005 C6 that someone shoved in dual turbos and a bunch of other screwed up mods. :(
C6 runs like crap and should not be driven the shape it is in

I have the present owner email me some photos and OBD2 scanner data
I about fell over seeing thousands of miles away how past owner really F'd up this C6 and then hide the horror by having
most of the DTCs (error codes ) turned off, so others would not see what was hiding in that LT2 engine

First thing is I had the owner with tuning tools required to download the PCM's calibration as the owner states no DTCs are tripping but engine cannot
even idle correctly

I analyze that PCM calibration to see some asshole to hide all their screwups turned OFF all the engine DTCs !

I turned them back on and emailed the owner a tune which he flashed into the PCM and then started the engine with the OBD2 scanner recordings
Right away, DTCs begin tripping, and we can see all 4 O2s were not happy,

keitho2s.jpg

as mentioned someone did a piss poor job of shoving in 2 turbos, crap headers and exhaust, but now we know why the engine is on verge of blowing up :(

I have owner email me a photo of the top of the LT2
Look at this crap, that is NOT a stock 2005 C6 intake manifold, fuel rails or how stock the fuel system functions
If you look closely you see one bolt barely bolted own and worse other bolts missing !

05C6intake.jpg

I do not want this engine running at idle long nor want ANY further driving, so I have owner using OBD2 scanner recording startup ad short idle which he then emails me that recording which I analyze the raw data to find this cluster . . .

In short, one side of engine is running super lean, as much as 25% while other side of engine running way rich -10 %
so I instruct the owner he must get under C6 and look at all 4 O2 sensors, their wiring and the fuse for the O2 heaters

He reports back

Well I tried to change oxy sensors today on the ttc6. Now way it's an exhaust off job no facilities here ATM .
Also it only has 1 sensor on right bank other is a bolt !!
Here is the DTC it has as you said v rich and lean
Put noids on #2 &#5 flashing ok
Dunno why it is so imbalanced can't spot any leaks or other issues .
Don't really want to dismantle much of the engine etc

Oil on dipstick smells of gas too
------------------------------------------------------------------

I fricking bolt in place of 1 of the O2s should be and a screwed up exhaust to where cannot even get to O2s to replace them :(
I can see why the past owner dumped this C6, but now the new owner has a real task as once he corrects the O2s
I then cannot trust anything the past tuner did and have to start over and assume will find other issues and still not knowing
even if that LT2 can even handle dual turboboost levels :-(

You all in the UK need to crank this up and get good quality shops and people understanding the electronics of Corvettes

Prob find it was built in the USA and then shipped here after being brought by some poor sod after the idiot American seller told him it was mint and running 1000 hp !!!!! Beginning to think most Yanks can't build a good engine either !!!!! And don't say rubbish otherwise I will enlighten you about another c6 we have that came directly from USA to us which had more dodgy engine build work than I have had hot dinners !!!!

And just to enlighten you further a top tunner in this country has looked and that car and told previous owner b4 the guy that has it now ( yes I know who has it now ) that the engine needs pulling and going over in much more detail before any tunning work happens as much more wrong with it that just the map !! Oh and we looked into buying this car a few yrs back it was built in the USA and shipped here like this so let's not be to hasty in slating UK car builders shall we !!!

Prob, likely, maybe makes no difference as my post is about there needs to be more of a ramp up in the UK as learning what OBD can do
even when the car is thousands of miles from, the car I can not only can determine the health of the car but what is defective and how to correct the
problems
I can care less who did the screwed up mods, what I care about is those with C4s and newer learn how to use an OBD scanner, what it is telling them and if used before deciding to buy a highly modified Corvette is having it OBD scanned and from that decide to buy the car or not

So any called rubbish, is the excuses in not learning what vehicles are reporting by use of the diagnostic tools for computer controlled vehicles

Not knowing how the UK functions, I cannot understand if the mods were done in the USA, and were functionally screwed up
how it could be sold in the UK and get registered when it would fail any type of smog testing

In the end this C6, if further driven, would end up with a rod through the block

Should never been let out of the USA like that

Seems you're looking at a blame in the USA rather than what my thread was written about
And if in fact this car was known years ago, why was it not OBD scanned and simple problems corrected
So stick with this thread which is use of OBD in the UK

But as you said its not an obd issue as u clearly wrote current owner is not in position to sort (ramp etc) the o2 sensors like the pervious owners who have had car here, thinking its a turning issue to blame when it's not, so if the car sells again it just another owner with the probs to sort I think this car has passed through hands of the not so mechanically minded owners who are not capable of pulling engine themselves so have just sold car on before there costs spiralled out of control

For those kind of interested what OBD scan do :

When this C6 was started it was running piss poor but a OBD2 scanner and a GM Tech-II found no DTCs (error codes) tripped
But the fact owner said it smelled really rich which would have tripped DTCs is I had them read and email be the tune in the PCM

As we see and this is just part of what was turned off in the tune but all below that have no X in the boxes to the left,
someone on purpose turned OFF all DTCs related to all 4 O2 sensors so that no one would know what was being hidden as to the problems

Of course here in the USA this is federal illegal as O2 sensors are by law smog devices, nor would the C6 pass any smog tests

This was the tune in this 2005 C6
Once I turned all DTCs back on, flashed that tune into the PCM,
that should be ON than within few minutes at idle all the reported above O2 sensors tripped on informing a OBD2 user where to look and repair

Knowing Jack about the computerisation on modern corvettes I would say this one is only for the very brave with deep pockets. The ole term caveat emptor ( buyer beware) should be in capitals.

Well guys as you know I own this c6 TT. I am pretty sure the oxy sensors are to blame on this bad running. I simply do not have the time to get into it as I am moving to USA sept 1. (eurovettes still operating as normal but remote).

I have listed the probs with this car so as to be an honest seller. I have realised that heated O2 sensors do not need to go closed loop as per C4 so the pcm looks at oxys even when cold (hence the heated sensors).

Simply put, the position of the sensors is such you cannot remove them without dropping the exhaust (really!!!) Plus both sensors next to each other not either side of cat, assuming it's got one and Rh bank has missing upstream sensor . Some renowned UK specialists have worked in this car but I dunno how this was not attended to.

I ran out of time to fix it so it's for sale asap. All Q's to me please y 'all know my rep with corvettes so support is available. Cheers keith
