It took a crew of three just seven to eight minutes to steal four vehicles – including a mid-engine Corvette – from a North Carolina dealership Sunday night.

Now police are hoping someone in the public will be able to help them identify the suspects and locate the Blade Silver 2020 Corvette Stingray coupe and three other vehicles, taken from the front of Rick Hendrick’s City Chevrolet in east Charlotte just before midnight, Feb. 5.

The thefts were captured on the dealership’s surveillance video, as the suspects can be seen scurrying around the cars, opening the doors using the key fobs they had just stolen after breaking into the dealership.

Once they located those key fobs, they actually came outside the business and took the vehicles,” said Detective Rick Smith, the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department Crime Stoppers coordinator.

Besides the Blade Silver Corvette (with optional body color exterior accents and what appears to be a transparent removable roof panel), police say a purple 2021 Dodge Challenger, a black 2021 Chevy Tahoe and a white 2020 Jeep Compass Trailhawk were also taken from the dealership.

“They’re going to drive them around as long as they can. They may be even trying to sell some of the cars or some of the parts,” Smith told WBTV News. “We can’t definitively say how organized they are, but we would like to get these individuals identified and get them into custody,”

The video also shows another mid-engine Arctic White Corvette hardtop convertible the thieves left behind, sitting next to the silver coupe.

Dealership officials do not believe the crime was an inside job, but they do think the suspects may have had prior knowledge about the business.

The Hendrick Automotive Group is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information about the thefts, which can be submitted by calling Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600 or through the P3 Tips app. Tipsters can remain anonymous and can receive a cash reward for pertinent information.

“We know that someone has insight in reference to this incident, and we’re just asking for your tips.
The cars we can get back, but you have an opportunity to earn up to $10,000,” Smith said.
