While many rioting this weekend, some on this side of the pond remember

Independence Day, also called Fourth of July or July 4th, in the United States, the annual celebration of nationhood.
It commemorates the passage of the Declaration of Independence by the Continental Congress on July 4, 1776.

"No taxation without representation" was the rallying cry of the War of Independence. Their car tags suggest Washington DC is still fighting......

That’s because as a voter in DC you’re not represented in Congress even though they are they have legislative control of DC.
Whereas in the City of London businesses get a vote as well as individual residents - the only place in UK where this still happens. The business vote (about 25,000) easily outnumbers individual voters (about 9,000).

July must have been a busy month with Johnny American revolting on the 4th, Johnny Ulsterman on the 12th and Johnny Frenchman revolting on the 14th.
