What have YOU being doing or are you planning to do with your Vette?

I remember last year in winter it had been raining for days, so couldn't get the Corvette out. It wasn't cold or anything. Then finally we had a dry day, it wasn't cold, and thus I thought I'd take the Vette out of the garage and for a quick spin. Got it out of the garage, drove down to the main road, turned left, and immediately over the roundabout to the main road leading out of the village.... and just as I was exiting the roundabout I saw in the distance a gritter truck. With nowhere to go, the bugger bore down on me and splattered the Corvette with grit and salt. I was extremely un-impressed that it was afternoon, nice and sunny, and I'd literally just got the Vette out of the garage about 2 minutes ago.

I was in a foul mood after that.

Haven't really worked on the car since I got it because winter hit but the engine does randomly cut out which makes me feel on edge when driving it as you never know... It's very rare when it happens but need to sort that out so I can be at peace. Funnily enough it didn't cut out driving in the freezing cold going to and back from portsmouth car show.

Our winters certainly don’t make working on cars easy. My garage is bloody freezing.
Just bought a one year old worcester oilfired condensing boiler inc tank and flue. Planning ahead , two radiators going in the vette room and two in the mancave mezzanine room above. These will be isolated from the rest of the workshop and well insulated. I want somewhere pleasant to fettle the corvette. πŸ‘

Check the easy things first

1. Carb dirty, use a cleaner
2. check battery posts are clean and cable connectors clean and tight
3. check grounds are good, clean and tight
4. Inspect wiring and connections at coil and distributor
5. Possible bad gas or wrong type
6. fuel filter
7. quality of sparkplugs and wires
8. fuel pump
9 dirty air cleaner
10. Check points of Dist

Now get to work ! :)

That sounds like it’s gonna be nice and cozy. I’ve got a nice propane heater but it’s never been cozy in there. The cars are well covered with car covers and blankets on top, so there OK. My garage in Florida is lovely and warm even in winter.

So is mine. I'm trying to overhaul my trailing arms and after bribing the pivot bolts to come out with generous doses of PlusGas failed, I spent some cold and unrewarding hours today trying to cut them off with my Sawzall. All I got for my efforts was some blunted blades and frozen fingers. I've ordered some Tungsten Carbide replacements (for the blades, not my fingers) in the hope that they'll be more effective. There have got to be better ways of passing your twilight years than farting about with old cars......:(;)

Been over to the workshop today for a bit fettling on the Vette trying to get better adjustment on the drivers door window mechanism as it`s always been a bit sloppy . Not too chilly wearing a couple of layers and a fleece jacket , but when it`s really cold outside it`s chuffin freezin in this great barn of a unit . Even the penguins move out to warmer climes ! :LOL: As is often the case I ended up distracted into helping fit newly moulded carbon fibre body panels to line up for the fitting the Dzus Fasteners on newly completed rebuild of an F2 car as it was a ` two pairs of hands` of job .DSCF2589.JPGDSCF2801.JPGDSCF2802.JPG

Ah so you have been hiding the good stuff from me ! :)

Think you need to ship these puppies to me to get verification, high speed testing :)

You should also check float levels - if too low (or too high) it could cut out. Accelerator pumps - is primary (presuming its a Holley) giving a full shot?

Unfortunately not . Pete the owner has a nice powerful space heater in his own seperate internal workshop where all the serious race car and engine builds take place so I have to go in there for a warm up .
