That Jaguar add is like watching Boney M whilst being on an acid trip . What a load of b****cks !! The heritage of a truly iconic , world famous brand has been totally ` sold out` . I was always a huge Jaguar fan and owned two in the past . All the latest Jags have been soul less pap IMO .

My previous was an F Type and I enjoyed that one for 6 years but didn't enjoy forking out for new rear tyres every 12k. Gone back to an XF Dynamic and so far so good

The 2024 model year XF Sportbrake D200 R Dynamic HSE Black got a good (4 star) write up in the 1 November 2023 Autocar, including "A lot of car for the money."' I was surprised it was "only" £42,750!

Sat in the tyre shop again...23k miles two front 'rubber band' tyres being replaced due to eggs on both. These low profile tyres don't need much of a pot hole to get f'kd up

They needed something new, let’s be honest they’ve not made a car that’s competitive in the marketplace since the original XJ6. The Venn diagram of retirees living in Surrey who were once bank managers and want a car with a wooden dash is getting smaller by the year!

I’ve listened to a load of old fart motoring journalists complaining about destroying Jaguar or Nigel Farage saying they should die or the Daily Mail saying it’s all because the brand director is gay. But in all that drivel the most recent thing anyone mentioned happened in 1988. Come on, if a company is relying on a race from 35 years ago to sell cars they’re doomed.

They’ve started releasing photos of a concept car that they’re showing soon. I think it looks promising as it’s not trying to look like an XJ6, mk 2 or an E-type.

They need to make a car people want, they’re part of Jaguar Land Rover. Defenders and Range Rovers have a massive waiting list, I think they’re gash but they obviously know what they’re doing there so maybe they do here too.

Tim, we'll see in time but a company doing a complete 180 from a mix of ICE & Hybrid to 100% Electric is a massive gamble and I can say in my case a) I can't see me ever having an electric car and b) after that awful video they've lost me for good having had three Jags on the trot now which were and are mostly very nice and reliable cars. Says something when a lot of the other major car manufacturers are scaling back electric car production.

I’m not sure electric only is the best idea either but if they continued with what they’re doing now they would not exist in a couple of years.

They’ve not forgotten everything, despite what the ad says.

Talking about companies doing a total turn-around. Volvo as probably known by most people has long since dropped any association with Ford and is now owned by Chinese company Geeley Holdings. Volvo's mid sized XC30 is based on a Geeley platform. One of the guys on another forum's wife bought (I think) this model a couple of months ago but it has failed miserably and now marooned in the Volvo dealership awaiting parts. These will not be available until Jan/Feb 2025. If this is indicative of an 'electric' future - please pass me a horse and cart!

Its interesting reading 'in-between the lines' relating to the Land Rover part of Jaguar Land Rover. We've all heard of the 'issues' with these vehicles being so 'nickable' and how long it seems for JLR to have addressed the problems........doesn't stop people buying them. Even more incredible is people buying the new Defender - tbh not a bad looking vehicle.......but what a price for that 'exclusivity' of owning a Land Rover. Perhaps 'thinking' people lease or contact hire the vehicles and minimise their financial 'exposure'?

The engines are supposed to be chocolate teapots too but again doesn’t stop people buying them.

I've been looking at the last "24" plate pre reg/delivery miles F Type 75 V8s (444 bhp) Sytner have been selling over the last months. Especially the "Plus" version with all the extras on it. In September, you could get a "Plus" for £60k (£23k off list price). Thats a helluva lot of a car for the money? Last one for sale now:

The F Type is / was a fabulous car with true Jaguar DNA running through it . Awesome performance and sound with the switchable exhaust . I went to Coventry with a mate to pick one up when they were first in production as Jaguar had kindly loaned us one to take to the NEC Classic car Show to do Dream Rides in it with he Sporting Bears Motor Club . Needless to say we took the long way home to enjoy the drive !! The same mate who is a dyed in the wool Jag enthusiast has a very limited edition XFR -S which are rare in the UK and the only one Italian Blue . It`s one hell of car with so much power on tap an really true to the old jaguar ethos of " Grace , space and pace ". He sold his beautiful 1967 4.2 litre E type owned for over 30 years to fund that and still leave plenty of ££ in his pocket !
