Electric windows on 1979 coupe

Hi all
I have just fitted my drivers door back on the car after repaint and the electric window dosent work, but there is a slight clunk as though it’s telling me there is power there. The motor was not touched during repaint and obviously worked before and I have rechecked wiring (all seems good)Now my question is the passengers door has yet to be fitted and I am wondering if I have missed the obvious reason as the wiring for the passengers door is not reconnected!! Can anyone throw some thoughts my way .
Thanks all
Nige

No it sounds like the motor may be engaging and I can’t see anything obstructing the window travel
I am not an expert on the detail, but may be worth removing the motor to make sure it spins well and then look for the obstruction to the movement in the mechanism and adjustment of the window glass

So do you think it’s not because the other door is not fitted and wired up i.e a separate section of wiring and independent of the drivers door?

No they both have separate switches and a live and earth supply, the fuse controls both, but you have a power response so the fuse is ok

Just pull the motor leave it connected to the live and earth and spin it up to ensure the motor is good then you know you are looking at what is left

The motor does not have a live and ground, both are live ,for up and down, the motors is earth is through the body.

If you remove it from the door it will not work
That is why I said "leave it connected to the Live and Earth"
Pull the motor leave the live wire and maintain the earth contact metal to metal

Process of elimination, issue with the motor - issue with the winder mechanism - issue with clearance for the movement of window pane - issue with the up and down connections on the motor
We do not want to add strain to the motor, so pull it and test it is free running
Check the mechanism for free movement
Check the mechanism and pane for clearance
if all good then look at the up and down operation of the motor - look at which way the motor spins re up or down on the pane and see if the wires have been transposed
