Brake Pads for Euro Spec C5 Corvette

Hi,

There is some squeeking coming from the brakes on my 2004 Euro Spec C5, and the pads haven't been changed since I got it so thought I'd get some new brake pads put in anyhow.

Almost all of my driving is fairly leisurely, I might do one track day a year, but I'm alwys gentle on the brakes so I don't think I need anything too extreme!

I was hoping to get stock pads but finding it hard to find a full set in the UK, but I did find some EBC Red Stuff pads ( EBC Redstuff 3000 Series Sport Brake Pad Set (DP31160C) ) would those be OK?

Not used Red Stuff on the Vette but RockAuto have a pretty extensive selection.

I use Powerstop Ceramic from Rock Auto for mine. I just had a look and works out about £120 or £115 with a discount code and delivered by Thursday

Amazing that it's cheaper to buy brakes from the States with fast shipping than pads manufactured in the UK!

So pads are like 120 bucks and they wack you another 30 bucks, that is like 25% screw over ?

VAT is instead of what you'd have as sales tax. We just have 20% on top of (most) stuff but it's normally just a part of the total cost; only displayed separately on invoices.

So we don't have to guess the price at the till like you do in the US when they add sales tax.

I've just realised I'm running these as well so can also attest to their quality

Price has only gone up £9-£10 in the last 6 years as well which isn't bad!

The Texas state sales tax rate is 6.25%,
and the average TX sales tax IF after local surtaxes is 8.05%.

EBC Red stuff will be a bit extreme , Green Stuff would be better for general use and occasional spirited driving . I have used EBC pads for years on my various cars and and always go for Green Stuff without any problems . Readily available too as they are a UK company just up the road from me .

Try living in the UK with all our taxes , especially on gasoline as that`s what makes ours so expensive . We are born free here but taxed to death !!!

It’s our (UK) equivalent of your sales tax. Currently 20%
