It's with great sadness I have to confirm the passing of a dear friend Chris Sale who passed away last week having had a heart attack. Chris was a regular at not just North West events but he travelled widely in his C2 Corvette and spent several weeks in France earlier this year. He was in good form at this years Corvette Nationals and having been part of the judging team in recent years he asked me for a break this year so he had more time chatting to mates. Often seen with an ice cream in hand and always eager to offer advice to Corvette owners especially on C2's on which he knew everything and on the rare occasion he didn't he'd research it to death until he did. Several times the postie delivered articles on carb info, knock off wheel fitment and more after he'd heard me discussing issues I was having.

A nicer man you couldn't meet and he was loved by all. We've lost a few members over the last few years but this one is hard to take and those that knew Chris are going to find it tough not seeing him and hearing is Americanised voice having spent years in the States with work at Caterpillar.

Sad news indeed - didn't know Chris but I knew of the great reverence and respect he had from those who knew him and his Corvette knowledge, (especially as Stuart notes C2's). Condolences to family and friends. RIP Chris.

June & I heard this morning about Chris' passing. We've known him for the best part of 30 years, both of us being in CCCUK and then NCRS UK Chapter founder Members. Despite us moving to France we communicated regularly, at least 3 or 4 times a week, usually about "nerdy" Corvette stuff. And of course he stayed with us here during many of his Le Mans and Corvette Club France sorties. We always looked forward to his visits as you knew it would be a fun time.

He had a fascinating life outside of Corvettes and had some amazing stories of times all around the world. But of course, his '64 was his pride and joy and it wore it's 150k or so miles with pride in the knowledge that it was top notch mechanically and full of all sorts of little "Sale Modifications"! I will greatly miss all the chats we had and, like you, the little packages that would arrive containing parts that Chris just "knew" I needed, or should have! It's a very sad day and big part of my Corvette life has slipped away.

Very sad news and thanks for posting Stuart. As mentioned Chris was and encyclopedia when it came to C2's and always willing to offer advice, articles and technical knowledge on almost any C2 topic. He was a great friend to my late father and I have a folder with articles and technical advice he shared over the years with us. Was last in touch in May and we were sharing a few stories. Shocked and sadened to hear the news. He will be missed.

What a shock to hear about Chris`s passing as I just logged on to the forum out curiosity whilst on holiday in North Yorkshire . He was a lovely , genuine , friendly guy and one of life`s `true gentlemen ` . I always enjoyed his company at events and he will be sorely missed .

I've just seen this too. Very sad news. One of the good guys and he will be missed at the Nationals. A gent.

Sad news, I've known Chris for years and always had a good time catching up with him again at the Nationals and with NCRS UK.

My condolences to the family.

Very sad news, I have had the pleasure of meeting Chris at le mans many times since around 2001, we never traveled down together but always managed to bump in to each other at some point over the long weekend. He was a fine gentleman & will be missed greatly. Prayers to his family, RIP Chris.

3 very dear old friends, sadly no longer with us. Chris with Noland Adams and Ray Groves - the knowledge was endless ! Taken by me 25 years ago in Norfolk and so saddened to have to reflect on it. I will raise a glass to you Chris.

Great photo! Chris was partial to a drop of red 🍷🍷

One of Corvette Kingdom's biggest defenders. Wouldn't have a negative word said against them
