Wow that brings back old memories !
I and several buddies from Chicago would drive up to Great Lakes Dragway in Union Grove, Wisconsin
In the late 1960s and early 70s
To crank up those we were racing against would yell at them and call them cheese head, pansy asses
and then go to war with them on that old track with lots of racing history
My 1975, I painted Candy Apple, paint called like imeron (SP?)
Stuff could rot your teeth out just from the fumes when spraying it on

That was to keep the ex-wife busy doing the letters of tires, so less time for her to whine about being at the drag strip

It has three runs but none show the times. I believe it was at the Fairgrounds and took part in autocross as well. The footage is fascinating with the most notable thing being everyone is skinny

No internet and limited / no power steering or power brakes - so people were used to using their bodies more, hence better exercised
. Take for example when I met my now wife, she was (and still is) a skinny little thing. Thing is, when my mum met my dad back in the 70s, my dad was over one stone LIGHTER than my wife when I met her . Its interesting to see photos of my family and so forth from that time.

Yes that was typical of the era. Also in the mix I guess was limited fast food availability and buckets of soda

WE ARE BACK AND RACING! Any car clubs wishing to attend any event can book club stand areas and can be eligible for a club wide gate entry discount! We welcome all spectators, young and old, families are especially welcome, there are food vendors onsite, toilet facilities, ample parking...
