Saddle carpet matching

Hi, I am trying to identify the correct carpet type and colour for my 1972 corvette C3, convertible with 4 speed manual transmission, The trim code on the car is 421 which is the deluxe leather saddle interior.

Manufacturers like Auto Custom Carpet seem to sell either dark or medium saddle carpet, but never just saddle.

I think I need cut pile, dark saddle carpet, ideally with the mass backing.

It is really only the front carpet section that needs replacing, but I may replace the whole set which deals matching.

Can anyone offer any guidance on the correct carpet to use, please.

Al Knock Interiors might be a popular choice but still waiting for a quote from them after almost a month and several messages chasing them. I dread to think how slow they will be sending the carpets.

AAC are sending me some samples in dark and medium saddle, cut pile carpet, hopefully with and without the mass backing. Again it is slow process, but they do at least respond.

Neither seem to use the corvette interior colour codes nor do they seem to have a cross reference to their own colours. Surely I cannot be the first person to ask for carpets to match deluxe saddle 421.

Been a good few years since I’ve used Al Knoch, but the last time I did they were very responsive. They have a pretty good reputation for both quality and service.

Poor service these days is the new norm it seems

I obtained the period correct carpet set for my 1980 C3 direct from Hecklers Corvette in the US a few years ago . Shipping and import duties bump up the cost though . You could try the usual `go to` UK based Corvette specialists to see what they can offer as their shipping costs will be reduced by bulk deliveries of parts from the USA .

Hecklers :LOL::LOL: good one Chuffers

Ecklers were good but since being taken over I believe they don't now ship outside the USA. You could get Eurovettes to bring goods in I guess.

A Freudian slip of the typing fingers dear boy ! :rolleyes: Was not aware they didn`t ship across the pond anymore but haven`t needed to use them since the early years of owning the Vette .

Ecklers used to be my go to corvette supplier both in Fl and the UK. Nearly everything always in stock and fast shipping. That was in the days of Ralph Eckler owning the company he built, and prided himself on quality and service.
For the past 25 odd years I’ve used mainly corvette central. Excellent service all round.
