What have you done today

Last weekend I went to Clifton Car Day at the Robin Hood pub in Clifton Reynes (Bucks). It turned out to be quite a big event around 150 with cars of all shapes and sizes, really great show.

This weekend I've been changing the brake fluid in my C3. Definitely looks overdue

I good friend of mine goes there regularly with his Jaguar and says it`s a good event . Must give it a try next time as not too far from me in south Northants .
PS . I think you have your monies worth out of that brake fluid !

And yeah the brake fluid is one of the items on the very long list I've been working through since I bought this car and mistakenly told the wife "it's in great condition I shouldn't have to much to do this one at all!" ...after she asked me if she was going to be a classic car widow again

At the nationals people were approaching me and saying "did you get the paintwork done yourself?" to which I was answering no, but it's pretty much the only part of the car I've not had in pieces But hey that works for me, I'm happy to do most things except paint

Over the weekend I went to the Torbay Steam Fair near Brixham on the Saturday, and down to the Mount Edcumbe American and Classic Car show near Plymouth.

This weekend of awesomeness was brought to me by my wife taking the child away for the weekend on a girly weekend with her mum and sister.

No photos, mostly because they are "family" photos with people in etc. But just imagine lots of steam traction engines on the first day, with saw benches and rock crushers and old style fairground rides. Then on the next day imagine a huge grass carpark filled wil lots of different types of old cars. See, no photos needed

Well yesterday actually . Another day spent in the BIG toys box carrying out more precision grinding amongst the giants of steam in the Great Central Railways locomotive workshops . I will post some more blurb on the `Different Train of Thought ` thread in due course for those interested .

Took in the regular Queen Square Breakfast Club meet this morning, held this month at Aerospace Bristol. Aerospace is basically a museum celebrating Bristol's long aeronautical history but also hosting a wide range of exhibits from other facets of Bristol life - it also houses the Concorde that made the aircraft's last flight.
Theme this month was 'Classic British Cars' but as usual this was interpreted fairly widely - still, it gave me a chance to give my Daimler an airing......

...sandwiched between a very nice Bentley and a Classic (British?) Porsche.
As usual at these meets the variety of cars attending is amazing......






Yanks were in unusually short supply this month but a C6 put in an appearance....

.....and the 'General Lee' - (or maybe a replica ) was there - sadly without Daisy Duke's hot pants (for those of you with long enough memories )

Altogether a great morning.....

.....in the presence of some very interesting machinery and some very nice people.

Took the Vette out for spin this afternoon to one of our nearby Coffee , Cars & Bikes venues at Piston & Rings at Staverton on the Northants / Warwickshire border . It as billed as an American car themed meet from 1pm to 5pm but the only other Yank to show up was a lairy 1954 Chevy Bel Air Pro Street custom job with a blown Big Block . Got chatting with the owner and his wife ( clearly not a petrol head !! ) . He had done all the mods himself except the paintwork which was done by Williams Brothers Racing just down the road from me and the car was appropriately named " The Mistress " ! I think the poor turnout might have been due in part to the MOPAR Euro Nationals being on at Santa Pod this weekend which is not so many miles away . However , we certainly attracted some attention from the usual crop of bikers , Porche and MacClaren owners et al that often frequent the place .
