Iconic Auctions has thrown up an usually tasty set of cars both in the 'Classic' and 'Iconic sales' for this November'sale.

For those who like glass fibre sports cars with a steel chassis, and remember avocado green bathroom suites with great fondness here's the perfect car for you....

Esprit in Green

If it doesn't make that estimate I'll be very surprised.....

Always liked green colour cars. Probably in the minority as it’s thought off to be unlucky.
On that note, 2 of my green cars were smashed into while parked and written off.

Picked up my "Java Green" TR7 from the dealer 100 years ago, wearing a green suit. Driving home down a country lane with snow on the side and no central marking, had a side "scrape" with a woman in a V12 E-Type going the other way. She didn't even stop. Got to work next morning expecting max consolation from my work mates. One just said "Didn't you know that green cars are unlucky?"

I had a green suit, wore it to work one day, our MD gave me £100 to go and buy another suit “ something more suitable” and change into it. Thank you very much I said and off I went.

Like that - yes, colour being so very green could be an 'off' for some - great clue as to the potential upper end performance from the OEM rev counter!

Dad bought a new triple green impala from Lendrum and Hartman in 1970. Beautiful car. Probably where my likeness of green cars came from .

Don't like the green on the C3 above. "Giola green" on the last "75" edition F-Types looks good?

Me neither - it's a nice looking car but a bit 'appley'......(n)
I didn't realise green was considered unlucky - perhaps that explains the spate of household equipment failures I've experienced lately; I thought they were just down to me living too long. The latest was my central heating boiler. OK, so it's 40 years old but I was hoping it would 'see me out'.

Does this mean I should find some unsuspecting innocent to unload this on? ;)

Just had a look, apparently 4200 corvettes were painted Elkhart Green in 1972.
The second most popular colour
.....and Brands Hatch Green was the second most popular in '71 ( to War Bonnet Yellow - most buyers must have bought that just for the name ;))

It’s amazing where some of these colour names come from. Watched many westerns and never seen an Indians war bonnet in yellow. 😂

That Java Green was a lovely colour. Last time I visited the car museum in Coventry they had a stag that colour on display with another in that bright orange. They looked great together.

'Er indoors's car is an MGF Abingdon Limited Edition in Brooklands Green. This is a non-metallic green so dark it looks black in photos. Works well with tan roof and walnut coloured leather interior.

BRG of sorts was a very popular colour for the MGF, it suited it very well. A little British sports car in dark green. What’s not to like.

I like a nice beige (or tan/walnut) or red leather interior. Like these ones on the last V8 F-Types:
