When Ford decided to offer the S550 Mustang as a 'world' car in 2015 it greatly widened its appeal with variants engineered to meet around 140 global markets. Offered in the UK with RHD for the first time and with the option of the 2.3 Litre 4-cylinder Ecotec motor as well as the 5.0 Litre V8 it became an instant success. Although seen over here as a 'Sports' car it's 4-seat practicality, strong performance with reasonable economy and competitive pricing has wide appeal. On its introduction it was the cheapest 400+ HP car on the market.
Ever since I bought mine in 2016 it has attracted wide attention with everyone from school kids to old ladies in their 70's......
..... ( even without the dog on board

). Everybody seems to recognise a Mustang. The C3 gets noticed too but not many people know what it is and those that do are more likely to be OAP's rather than school kids. With almost 50 years of automotive development between them the two cars obviously offer quite different driving experiences. In the C3 the emphasis is on torque; in the Mustang it's power. The 'Stangs' 5.0 Litre V8 does however give twice the fuel economy of the 'Vettes' 5.7 with around 50% more power - the fruits of progress!
