Chevy’s new-for-2024 GT3 contender has completed its first mileage following a shakedown at GM’s Milford proving grounds earlier this week.

It has been learned that the Chevy Corvette Z06 GT3.R, in the hands of an undisclosed Corvette Racing factory driver, completed the rollout on Tuesday at the GM-owned facility in Michigan.

It came ahead of a first proper track test of the Pratt & Miller-built GT3 car that’s expected as early as next week.
The car will replace the current Chevrolet Corvette C8.R GTD with an expected two-car factory effort in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship GTD Pro class beginning in 2024.

Based on the Z06 production car, the GT3.R will utilize a 5.5-liter DOHC LT6 V8 engine with the same flat-plane crankshaft architecture that powers the Corvette C8.R.

In addition to its planned factory IMSA GTD Pro effort, Chevrolet, for the first time, will offer a “turn-key, customer focused” Corvette for GT3 competition worldwide.
Chevy has received a considerable amount of interest in the car, although are still working to finalize support packages and plans for each region.
