78 not just a quick paint job

Ok this is what was just going to be a quick paint job on my 78 Corvette that i've had for 8 years now but guess what................................................................................................. ....Things don't always go to plan ☺

Now what was going to be a quick colour change ended up going a abit sideways. I mean the car had microblistering from a previous poor paint job and having painted corvettes before this was to be expected but the amount of paint on this one was so thick it was a joke but hey ho lets start and rip it off.

On with polyester filler and primer. This was originally just going to be the top only strip down on the car but i did eventually take the whole lot off . ☺

Ok now what to do with the engine bay and dirty dirty engine???

Yeah engines going to have to come out!

Ok now when i took this on i thought i will just concentrate on getting the engine bay tidy and just concentrate on the front chassis area so cleaning up i started.

Then i decided to sort out the airbox as mine never had aircon i thought i would blank out the holes where the pipes go through and paint it yellow as that's my new colour choice for the car..........No didn't like the lugs on the top so they need to come off so it's smooth☺(picture 3)

This is now when things have gone sideways as upon removing the rear suspension and fuel tank i have now decided to take the body off and do the rest of the chassis away from the body........

Wow, all this and you only started at 8.10 this morning

Cheers Oneball, it's nothing like you have had to contend with on yours as bird cage is all good and so is the chassis, just waiting on some room so i can lift off the body and crack on ☺

Front wishbones and hub stripped,cleaned and painted with new bushes, balljoints and rubbers.

Clean and paint front calipers (i know they are the original but they will do for now) ☺. Add new springs and paint, new shocks, rotors and pads.
