Bill - I have no knowledge of Auto TX specialists - the only name that comes to mind is the builder of drag racing's Red Victor 11, Penn Autos/Andy Frost Racing Transmissions at Wolverhampton who builds auto boxes for the drag racing word.

Williams Brothers Speedshop in Bugbrooke , Northamptonshire . They have recently done my C3 auto box and I have it booked in tomorrow for the recommended fluid change now it`s clocked up 500 miles . They do however outsource all the transmission rebuilds to their preferred specialist . I am well pleased with their work and they have totally transformed the way the Vette drives now . The are great guys , very helpful and into Chevy`s in a BIG way and love Corvettes .

Depending on how you feel Bill about having otherwise stock specification components upgraded...........(and given the later big blocks reputation for thirst) perhaps a 'sharpened-up' auto valve body and a torque converter with a slightly raised stall speed to 'liven-up' its drivability could be considered?

Thanks for the above help and suggestions. I've found a gearbox specialist in Sheffield (10 miles from here) who seems quite happy to remove and rebuild the existing unit.
So I've booked it in - fingers crossed:rolleyes:

Have you considered replacing the torque converter while tranny is out
and also the U-joints for the ends of the driveshaft ?
