Coolant query

Hi all, my 72 350 seems to push out a bit of coolant onto the floor. Checked hoses abd seemed dry, there is a pipe from the alloy expansion tank , is this common, wondered if could be a pressure cap issue, any suggestions appreciated. Thanks 👍

It would be a good starting point to check pressure cap . Have you checked to see if it has the correct pressure rated cap fitted ? It should be stamped on the cap . Good luck .

I am not sure either but I recall a post about this on the forum yonks ago . I will check mine when next over at the storage facility but I think it is higher than 15 lbs .

A while ago mine was losing coolant. I couldn't figure it out where until i saw drips from under the drivers footwell. You guessed it - heater matrix and soggy carpets. Contrary to some opinions you can change this through the engine bay.

Thanks mike havent checked footwells but there seem to be two small pools. On the garage floor , one forward aprox under rad area and the larger roughly where the pipe from the alloy expansion tank dissapears down toward the floor, cant get to investigate further yet. No smell of damp in car or steamy windows . Matrix was checked , repaired or new ( remember seeing pics of it out and being worked on ) and rad was new when resto done 6 years ago. Off to lancs , derby, kent and london mon/ tues with pianos so will be quieter later in week to have a better look. Cheers for the input all 👍

Hi Mad4 or should I call you Piano man ? I have over to the Corvette today to fire her and check her over , it does a 15 psi pressure cap .
Good job he doesn't specialise in Harmoniums, Whirlitzers and the like - wouldn't want to have the handle 'Upright Organ'.........
