Corvette Generations ??

I find it very strange that the generation of corvette referred to as C1 covers years 1953-1962.
Yes the the 53, 54, and 55 could be and should be referred to as the C1 generation, but NOT years 56-62. They are after all a totally different body style.
OK we can see differences between The 56/57 to 58/59/60., but they are basically the same style . Again 61/62 you could say major styling changes because of the tail, but in essence they are the same body style.
C1 does infact contain 2 very different body styles.

I think that is because the use of the word "generation" was not used until years later, and so it was just another new model year before that ?
