A visit to Corvette museum today, unfortunately no factory tours. Remember factory tour in 1992 where met up with Keith Beschi, Dave Posner, Dale and others after driving from Bloomington Gold.

As to another Corvette museum
Many of you might have bought older Corvette parts from Mid America Motorworks totally destroyed by a tornado
Many old and special Corvettes now trash :-(

St. Louis-based KSDK news was on the ground in Effingham, IL and talked with Michael Yager about the storm and their efforts at cleaning up and moving forward. While Michael was talking with the reporter, the video shows a number of the damaged Corvettes that were being removed from the building that once housed founder Mike Yager’s MY Garage Museum, as well as the interior of Mid America’s aftermarket parts and accessories facility.

Without speculating too much about the condition of the cars, I am hopeful that the Last C4, the two C5 development, and the only CERV car in private hands cars can be salvaged.

The walls came down on them pretty hard, and I believe the C4’s back window was broken out as well.
More drone footage from Effingham and Mid America Motorworks can be seen here.

In a Friday post on Facebook, Michael says that Mid America Motorworks has leased another location in Effingham and will be working to get their website and 800 numbers back up in running.

He believes that it should take another week or so before they can restore operations. The post also shows the following:

We are committed to getting back to business as quickly as possible and hope to be serving our customers again within the next week. During this time, responses may be delayed, and we appreciate your patience as our team works through the challenges ahead.

Thank you for your support, encouragement, and understanding. We’ll continue to share updates as we move forward.

Very sad to hear about mid America. Have used them a lot in the late 80’s and 90’s.
Have one of their Franklin Mint special 1986 Pace cars limited to 500 editions.
Mike Yeager is a true corvette guy.

I’ve got one of those FM 86 Pacers too! 👍

They occasionally come up for sale on eBay.com, in fact there’s one on there now.
Was always surprised the FM issue didn’t have the Indy graphics on in the first place, as the graphics are a major feature of the car.
I believe problems about the graphics stopped the actual promotion and sale of the cars by mid America.

I’m going to be honest with you, I haven’t looked at mine in decades, but I didn’t buy mine from MA, I bought it directly from the Franklin Mint, coming from 30 miles from Philadelphia I bought a lot of things from them. My recollection is that it came with a decal set that could be applied or not, just like my real 86 Pacer. I’m going to dig out my FM model and see if old age hasn’t caused my memory to fade and I’ll report back.

If you bought it from Franklin Mint, it won’t have the decals. I bought the 86 pace car from them when it first came out, no decals on car or in box. They didn’t get the licence to reproduce the decals so marketed it without.
Mid American bought 500 units from FM and added their own decals and marketed it as their “special edition” but ran into trouble with the decals added, and had to rethink their sales/pronation strategy.
FM obviously got the Indy license thing sorted as all the later pace cars had decals up to the last of them in 2008.

Mr Quayle, do open your boxes and examine the cars, the styro can sometimes react with the paint. Pull them out, give them a polish and put them back .
