Digital dash

I learnt a very useful piece of information today from Bryan at Batee regarding trouble shooting the C4 digital dash.
The power supply has to output 5v, anything under approximately 4.5v and it will not work.
You test the output on the capacitor highlighted in the 1st picture, with the display powered up and out of the car, my one was only supplying 3.8v hence nothing was working, you can double check the problem by applying an external 5v supply in parallel on the capacitor as in the 2nd photo. You have to keep the dash powered by a 12v supply and add the 5v to the capacitor.
If the dash lights up it proves the power supply is faulty as in my case.IMG_20220516_174729__01.jpgIMG_20220516_174806.jpg

Cannot tell if this is a diode, but looks like it got very hot
I'd check or test that to see if that is causing the voltage drop
