A friend in Atlanta GA has a 1967 but like me loves spinners, so he took the originals off and replaced them with a 65/66 set with spinners. Always gets told he’s got the wrong wheels at shows.

When one sits back and considers the difficulties in manufacture, use and applications for automotive aluminium wheels back in the early 60's its actually amazing that a manufacturer such as GM fitted them to a car.
Yes, a few real premium, top-end sports/GT cars would perhaps offer them maybe as options, some race cars would use them, and we had the wire wheel on ally rims fitted to Ferarris and the like.
Aftermarket alloy wheels from the 'states were limited to a few race type cast magnesium wheels and heavy cast ally centres and even heavier chromed rims. With a few exception it was only racing applications where you would see cast alloy and perhaps magnesium wheels or forged alloy dish mags. Amazing really that period Vette wheels still look fantastic!
My favorite wheel of the day was the spindle mounted front only drag race wheel (so no brakes)

Also the 67 repositions of the optional reversing lights to standard fixture above the licence plate, and parking brake ( handbrake) to the centre console were great improvements.
