Could be a number of things. Possibly some sort of mechanical interference, could be old hardened grease in the runners or regulator, might be that insufficient current is getting to the motor to get past a stiff point, perhaps even a motor problem. Did it used to work? Does it go down again?

There are a number of adjuster bolts and fixing points on on the guides and runners . If any are loose or not adjusted correctly you will get pinch points as johng said . Do you get rattles and clanks as it tries to go up ? There are also ajustable brackets fitted with buffer pads fixed to them . They are mounted to inner top edge of window aperture to hold the glass in place as it slides up and down . Anything that hinders the easy motion of the window could potentially cause the limiter switch to cut out . It should all become a bit clearer once the door card is removed .
