European Tour Advice

Hiya All and a very Happy New year to you all.

I'm looking for some advice and knowledgeable input from people that have done some of my proposed european tour.

I have driven in Europe a dozen times mainly in American cars Dodge Viper, Dodge Ram and Delorean (Irish American), but this will be the first for the C8 and one that will stretch her legs, it is by far the longest single european road trip we have attempted approx 4.5k, but it's not our longest road trip, my long suffering wife is used to my long distance wandering.

So please feel free to offer places to see and things to do that may be in the destinations or along the route or just good old common sence advice on places we are intending to visit.

When you go to Piz Gloria give it a day. Get off at all the stops on the way up some of the villages and views are fab.


You can reserve a table in the revolving restaurant (view will be pot luck) it’s usually quiet after 5ish. (The Chinese/Arab tourists just seem to get the bubble straight to the top and stay for 10 mins)



And the absolute must is go to the 007 toilets in the restaurant complex. I’m not going to give it away but they’re brilliant (watch the film before you go).

I think Le Mans is only a short stop place. Museum is closed for refurb at the moment

Whilst not initially seeming to be a born classic that Merc' even as a 4 door must be very rare - sister car Ford's (certainly in the USA) will be comparitively common place in comparison!

The trip sounds a blast , I see you have a few items on the itinerary around WWII - you might be interested in driving the Fula pass while on your journey- not only does it have the “ Goldfinger & bond scene shots - it also hides some interesting war time bunkers - built to look like quant Swiss lodges . From afar you can’t tell but walk a short distance and you will see they are outposts / pill boxes covering the hill side . search instagram with inside Switzerlands secret bunkers - hidden bunkers on the fuka pass - we plan a trip to Mondena itsly to visit the Ferrari factory road tripping through the Swiss alps stoping off to see some Bond scenes along the way .

Hope you have a really good trip - and remember to write an article for the Vette News . Also do a lap of the Nurburgring whilst you are passing - its great fun.

I'm hoping it's going to be a great trip, and ive done the ring many times, and even been around with Sabine in the ring taxi and a ride in the Zakspeed Viper and your right its great fun, but my wife has had enough of my track time so i'm going to listen to her this time.
