Gas tank lid gasket query.

Hi all Fitting a new gas tank lid gasket to the 72. Do folk stick these in place and if so with what do you advise?

The tatty one on mine wasn’t stuck down and because of the shape wasn’t easy to remove. It’s not something I’d imagine I’d stick in place.
