The driver of this Red Mist Metallic C8 Corvette hardtop convertible faces multiple charges after leading police in south Florida on a Memorial Day chase that ended in a crash.

Police in Sunny Isles Beach, which is located on a barrier island in northeast Miami-Dade County, told NBC6 News that 35-year-old Tyler Carter Bernard had an open bench warrant for trespassing and now faces a handful of other charges, including resisting arrest.

The incident started around 9:30 a.m. when police were conducting speed checks and clocked the C8 Stingray going in excess of the speed limit.
Instead of stopping to receive a ticket, police say Bernard sped off, crashing his Corvette into a car stopped at a red light at 178th and Collins.

The Corvette was going so fast that it kept moving after impact and wound up resting on top of a turf-covered traffic island. Bernard then allegedly took off running and dropped a gun along the way before eventually being taken into custody at the Hallandale Beachwalk Hotel in southern Broward County.

The Corvette suffered damage to the front bumper and left front fender in the crash. No word on any injuries, however.
