For those considering spending serious cash on rebuilding and perhaps modifying the engines on their C2 and C3 Vettes. There will always be deliberation in terms of modifying for better performance but potentially loosing some lower speed driveability and economy and then needing to change axle ratios and perhaps converters if running an auto transmission.
It is possible with careful selection of components (cylinder heads/camshaft/inlet manifold/carb) to improve performance and retain, even improve economy and driveability.
Now it seems that one can significantly improve performance, retain driveability and improve (perhaps significantly) without switching to complex computer controlled fuel injection by the use of camshafts with 'inverse radius camshaft lobes.
There's a thread just started over on the Corvette Forum relating to Mike Jones Camshafts (https://jonescams.com/products/) and their very specific camshafts and related components with these 'inverse radius cam lobes'.
I'll let you read the post and Leigh's analysis and make up your own minds.
