Import Tax Question.

Can anyone confirm the ruling on import taxes paid when shipping from America as I gather it varies on the age?🤔

Is this correct?

Under 30 years old - 20 percent VAT and 10 percent duty charge.

Over thirty years old - 0 percent VAT and 5 percent duty charge.

Last time I checked the charges were:-

Under 30 years - 10% duty on the price of the car plus shipping costs (transport, insurance agents fees etc.) with 20% VAT payable on that total, including the duty.

Over 30 years - No duty but 5% VAT on the total cost of purchase and import.

That’s correct.
Cars under 10 years old will also need a IVA test as well as a MOT where applicable before registration.

Also to qualify for 5% VAT the vehicle has to be ,
No longer in production,
Of historical intrest in the country of origin,
All original with no major changes, this one is the catch 22, there is no set rule of what
Qualifys as no major changes.
