MOT and Emissions

Hello again folks!

So I am looking to get my 1981 to get an MOT test for its registration and in the process of making sure it's all good to go. One thing I have noticed is that what I assumed was the old catalytic converter has been cut out and replaced with a straight pipe.

From anyone's experience, would the car have any chance of passing the emission standards without its cat? As I can't drive it to any workshop, it would be difficult to get something welded in.

Any advice is appreciated!

In UK it was early 1990’s that UK cars started having cat conv. It is not a requirement to have one for MOT providing it still passes the emissions test. You should be fine as long as it’s not running rich.

I had the cat removed from my 1980 C3 . Passed MOT`s OK but I do use my regular MOT test station guy who has a very phylosophical approach to classic car testing
