Oil pressure gauge on my 76 coupe

Hi all,
I have just noticed my oil pressure gauge is reading far to high and stays there when I switch the engine on or off !!any thoughts please guys

Is yours electric ? Sounds like dodgy gauge or pressure sensor (if it has such a thing) rather than fluctuating oil pressure. You cant have high pressure with motor off and oil pump not pumping electrical gremlin somewhere I reckon.

Yep, the oil sending unit outputs via the one 1 wire on the back
Maybe luck out and see if that wire is disconnected

Otherwise, the case of the unit goes to ground
so using an OHM meter to ground and other probe to the wiring connector see if there is a reading
if so, have to check wiring at the gauge in dash
