Paddle shift on a manual C7

I bought a manual 2014 C7 last year and I've never been able to figure out how to use the paddle shifts. Can any one give me any advice? I know this is something I probably should have asked the dealership when purchasing the car...

I didnt realise a manual car had them. But looking at this, the paddles don't change the gears on a manual, as they do on a C7 auto. They just turn on or off "rev matching" on a manual car:
