Just to (hopefully) wrap this thread up, the recent heat wave has rendered me largely inactive, but I have finally got everything back together on the motor .....

...and having checked all the ignition electrical components yet again, routed the HT cables as logically as possible, fired it up, let it warm up properly and went for a test drive.
No misfires - every cylinder joined in the fun!

I'm not patting myself on the back just yet though since the misfire problem was intermittent before and I guess only time will tell if the 'fix' is permanent. In the meantime, now that the weather is a little more clement, I'll be making the most of the fresh air.
