Santa Pod Run What Ya Brung

The Club Members survey showed some appetite for driving and track opportunities – so here goes!

On 13th July Santa Pod Raceway (NN29 7XA) are holding a public track day on their Drag Strip in their popular “Run What Ya Brung” format Saturday Night Special.

This is a public Track Day run by Santa Pod. As a club we can have a stand there and some dedicated parking and run the Corvettes in a run group separate from the other Public cars if we get enough cars. We do need to pre-book attendees though and currently have 5 cars attending.

We are looking at the 5PM-8PM runs – but can get there any time in the day to watch/learn/set-up - suggest about lunch time.

The costs are about £45 per car for event entry and driving. You can easily book for yourself - just go to their website Saturday Night Special and let us know you did.

You don’t need prior experience, and our very own Keith Dunkinson is happy to chat with anyone who has any questions. He will also be blasting up the track in his C8. You will need a helmet if your car will exceed110 mph in ¼ mile or you have a soft top

This is a great opportunity to let your car achieve it’s best potential in a non-street environment. You can do as many or as few runs as you like.

Don’t bring a car leaking any fluid or with any maintenance especially overheating or oil pressure!

Neither Santa Pod nor the Club carry any insurance for you or car beyond legal Public Liability. If you bend or break yourself or the car – it’s on you. It’s unusual to have incidents with street cars (other than the odd mechanical on poorly maintained cars) – all you are really doing is a racing start. The car next to you poses a risk of course and it’s nice to line against your mate’s street cars and not some heavily prepped drag car (which do occasionally end up in the wrong lane). That’s one of the advantages of doing this with the club where we can agree who is paired together etc.

If this gets enough interest, we will consider an exclusive club day next year, rather than joining a Public event.
