STS Inserts Sourcing in the UK

Hi there

Just purchased a 1976 Corvette C3 with some custom made side pipes. I'm actually dallying this car and want the look of the side pipes with a bit less of the bark! Currently it's just wide open with no inserts. After a bit of research it seems either STS hooker baffles or "Glass packs" inserts would be best and make a good enough difference. I previously drove an AMG GTS and with its sports exhaust turned on that was a nice enough level for me.

I can't seem to find any good UK places to source and US won't ship to UK. Any good sites/resources that I'm missing?

Thank you in advance! :)

I like the sidepipe look on my 68 too. It is a bit loud, which I like for my normal short range driving, but for long range driving you do end up a bit deaf at the end. :ROFLMAO:

There are plenty of people who can import parts for you. You get the parts delivered to their US address and they then ship them to you. Two that I know of are Eurovettes or STS Imports

Check out this shop that has been around for many years that sell and makes inserts for side exhaust systems

They even make chambered inserts that I used many years ago and will make custom inserts
At the bottom of the main page, they have an email address to contact and they will work with you
as to the type and sounds, you're looking for
Section for Corvette inserts

Are they 3 1/2" diameter? - if you can find some 'inserts' you'll discover that they will either be perforated or punched steel tube with end plates that slip inside the side pipes. The larger 4" diameber sidepipes that Hooker and Dougs manufacture will use these types of baffles. The problem is that to get the best silencing effect they will often use a baffle with a relatively small inner tube. Perhaps not so much an issue for a mid 70's lower performance small block.....but certainly a potential problem for higher powered and earlier Vettes. Bottom line will be - more noise, more power. Less noise, less power.

some interesting input and facts and videos with 'sounds'.

thanks! I'm based ni Guernsey so the most I'll get is 50mph If I'm lucky. so no stress on the power front! Just looking for comfort  They're custom made pipes from the looks of it.

What I'd really like for my sidepipes is a removable / quick installing silencer to put on the ends of the pipes for when I'm travelling long distance. Power not needed as mostly cruising at speed, and doesn't matter if it looks silly as I don't care.

That way I can use my Vette long distance without deafening myself, whilst also enjoying the full sound experience along my country roads near home for short journeys.
