Hi..
Thought I'd share my recent experience with my '87. I bought the Corvette in 2004 as a commuter/holiday/'going to town' car and racked up over 180k miles.
Early this year, I lost the D & OD and hunted around for someone to repair it. As I live in Ayrshire, this was nigh impossible locally, so I bit the bullet and had the car shipped down to Alders Automotive near Hailsham.
10 weeks later, we flew down to Gatwick and collected it, meeting Richard and Max who, apart from their expertise, make you feel very welcome, and showed me around.
My transmission was not only repaired, but upgraded with 9 clutch plates instead of the stock 6 and other upgraded parts like valves etc.
The torque converter, was beyond refurbishment and had to be replaced and a new flexplate too.
We drove home without any issues the 530miles amid congestion and other traffic issues (12 f*ck*ng hours!)
Finally, a run up on the dyno to check pressures etc.
All done at a very reasonable cost compared with some other quotes I had for simply fitting a reconditioned transmission.
I can recommend Alders without any doubt if anyone else has issues, or just needing some advice..
