The only time ive been to Thruxton was in about 1991 to see the JPS Nortons competing.
I travelled all over back then to watch them especially in 1989, i rode up to Scotland and down to Kent and across to the Isle of Man.

Sorry!.. another thread Hijack
Continuing the highjack , did you ever come across Bob Heath in your bike racing days ? He was an ace racer and also had his own business Bob Heath Visors . In later life he raced classic bikes and help Manx TT lap records . He was a hyperactive chipmunk on speed !

Ok youth , don`t rub it ! Just because he is a bit older than me ! He was a good mate of mine and undoubtedly the most unlikely and unassuming millionaire you could ever meet . He joined the Severn Valley several years after I started and was my fireman on many occasions until promoted to driver himself . We always had a good laugh together .

😲 What was he like? (apart from being tall).
He could have easily won the British Championship on the Norton if he hadnt been chasing International fame at the same time.
Terry was fast on his 16th birthday on a 50cc,! he had full support from all his family and importantly his dad also called Terry and heavily into bikes. We lost contact for a while then bumped into him and bought a bike from him that he used to practice drifting. Great guy, maybe jumped a bit quick to an old RG500 but had a great career pinnacle being World endurance champion. Me, I had a go at 250 production racing but was too sensible ie slow.

I was there to see him get a dose of Norton medicine in October 1988 at Brands Hatch.. Spray, who usually rode an RG500, was drafted in at the last moment as a stand in to ride the (red, silver and blue) Norton. Over two races he had two epic battles with Rymer on the 750cc Loctite Yamaha, the lead changing ten times every lap. Spray won them both and so impressed the JPS top brass who were there that they wrote Norton a big fat cheque... the rest is history as they say.

I was at Brands when Terry first rode the OWO1 possibly in a Transatlantic series?? And Terry was way ahead of anyone every lap in both races, that was posssibly 87 on a cold March day.sad to hear he split from his wife as we all went to the same school.
