You should the size of their sausage rolls , they are like tree trunks ! Filled with caramelized red union and herb sausage meat all locally sourced produce too .You’re making me feel hungry.

I have to admit despite all of the positive comments one hears about Greggs sausage rolls....I can't ever recall trying one. I'm also mindful of the TV adverts for (supposedly) Britains best loved sausage brand.......Richmond.......quite possibly one of the most bland tasting low quality product ever marketed on TV. Chuffer's preference on the other hand sounds really nice and perhaps a far healthier option.You should the size of their sausage rolls , they are like tree trunks ! The sausages in Pistons & Rings breakfasts are spot on too , by far the best I have ever tasted .

My wife and her side of the family all love Richmond sausages. I was brought up with proper farm shop / butchers sausages of differing types. I have attempted to educate her side of the family to real sausages, but they aren't convinced and say they don't taste like sausages
<inset facepalm smiley here>.Thankfully the wife herself DOES like the proper sausages, so does eat them, but also likes her Richmonds too so we sometimes have to have them. Fair enough, some of "hers", some of "mine" etc.
Personally I think Richmonds are just bland and taste mostly of salt.
Reminds me of a friend who ran a fish & chip type shop. They got in real meat fancy burger patties from the butcher to make the burgers taste better and healthier etc. Problem is, a lot of their clientele are brought up on McDonalds, so instantly declared that these don't taste like real burgers and didn't like them.

I went to Surrey Mustangs event at Brooklands last Saturday. All American cars were welcome. Didn't have a sausage though? Can't remember seeing the Bratwurst stand that is sometimes there either?
Club members were there, including our beloved/hard working Membership Secretary Rob, who made this nice/lovely video. Includes him going up the Test Hill in his red C7 Vert.
Italian car day at Brooklands tomorrow. One of my three favourite events there, along with New Years Day and American Car Day.

Richmond sausages ??? Aaaaaaaaaarh !! They are the sweepings off the abbatoir floor stuffed into a condom !My wife and her side of the family all love Richmond sausages. I might have seen a few steam locomotives over the weekend...... West Somerset Railway Spring Steam Gala.
Little Orange loco is a fireless locomotive. Has stored steam inside pushed in from external source. Used in dangerous locations where fires and stuff can't go.
Green Pannier tank is a non-runner currently. But looks nice there.
Erlestoke Manor on the left.
3850 below, a lovely 8 main wheeler. Not really seen one before.
Victor: The first locomotive used on the WSR when it became a heritage railway. Back again for the WSR's 50th year celebrations.

Sir Nigel Gresley:
Little Orange loco is a fireless locomotive. Has stored steam inside pushed in from external source. Used in dangerous locations where fires and stuff can't go.

Great photos Captain K . Looks like a fab gala on the WSR . Those GWR 2-8-0 locos like 3850 were powerful lumbering beasts used to haul heavy freight trains . I did plenty of mileage as fireman and driver on sister loco No. 2857 that was an earlier built version of 3850 .
Nice to see Sir Nigel Gresley looking immaculate as usual . I had a couple of firing turns on that too back in my days on the shovel . I got a bit carried away raising steam on Bridgnorth Loco shed yard ans overfilled the boiler with water . Both safety valves lifted at 250 psi and carried water over with the escaping steam . I shot two columns of water in the air that carried across the loco yard and over two platforms into the station car park. Ooops ! Learned not to do that again !!!!

It was a really good gala. Definitely the best I've seen so far. Minehead on Saturday was a hub of activity, lots of engines / trains moving around pretty much constantly. I could have stayed there all day watching, but alas gotta mix things up for the wife and child. Was amused though at taking the child to the beach, to which he wanted off and cried as he wasn't interested. I think he missed the steamers. He really loves them, his favourite thing is sticking his head up to cabin height so he can see the fire. Alas Sir Nigel's cabin opening is too small that he can't really see in - which is weird because that engine is HUGE. And I'm not brave enough to carry a small child up into the cabin (assuming I had permission of course).
I really liked 3850 as I'd not seen its wheel arrangement for real before on a moving engine. The sad factor is that I should have taken my photos from the pathway that runs parallel to the platform just outside the station as then my photos would have showed the wheels better. Lovely loco though, nice to see it. The fireless loco was great too, not seen it before either. Makes an interesting noise when it moves as obviously it has no chimney, so sounds nothing like a normal steam loco.
And it was really nice to see Victor - I was so pleased for the WSR they managed to get their original engine back for their 50th anniversary. I mean wow, that is amazing. Back in March they recreated some of the original runs from when the WSR started back in March 50 years ago, but sadly I didn't get to see it then. Busy life and all.
Newstead "the lost engine" has an interesting history, so it was lovely to see that too. Obviously seeing all the Manors lined up was great too.

Good to hear the Little Man is still enjoying his steam loco visits , many little ones are just plain terrified . Pity didn`t get to peer in SNG`s cab . The windows on an A4 Pacific are quite high up the cab side and the doorway onto footplate is narrow although big enough for a muppet like me to stick my head out !
