Zora was not the " rebel without a cause" - on the contrary. He was arguably more committed to Corvette than anyone and had unwavering belief in the car's ability to compete with the finest proven racers. Despite the sign up to the American racing ban he covertly conducted experimental and development programmes on Corvette and others, secreted in the bowls of Chevrolet Engineering, the engineering garages, the R & D centre, the " Motor Room" and mechanical assembly areas - places that were often restricted to even the highest levels of management. He would spend hours and hours there, sometimes all nighters and then test them at the proving grounds -ably assisted by his good friend Bob Clift who was head of Special testing and development.
