Wouldn't it be cheaper to make a fake split window?

What a bit like 1940's women used to do their pins (to make it appear as though they were wearing seamed stockings) - draw a line down the back of their legs.......

Why would you want a fake split window? Bit like a fake Rolex, pretending to be something it isn't:rolleyes:

That looks like Dan Short's work at Fantom Works, so it won't be cheap.

I bet not Phil . A guy I know had a Daytona / Le Mans style fast back complete with opening rear window luggage door fitted to his stunning big block AC Cobra at an undisclosed cost . He just said it wasn`t cheep . Really looked the puppies bits though !

I have just Googled and see what you mean  But it has given me a great idea for 1980 C3 . I am gonna buy a cheap Venitian blind , spray it matt black and tape across the rear window to look like all those cool boy racer accessories from the 1970`s :D
And before anybody out there says you can already buy them made up , I know as I`ve seen them advertised .

There was a thread on this over on CF forum (perhaps somewhere else - not sure) and this was a really complicated job, taking many. many hours to achieve. There was a lot more to it that what initially appears.
I saw the ones they did on Fantom Works and they had to tailor them to the individual car, not just a case of 'off the peg'.

Yes you buy the top and then you fit it - by remaking it to fit over a few months with a body guy - looks nice when done

There are Split Back Windows and there are Split Back Windows
Sit in a Mini Countryman and then look in the rear view Mirror

Some folk back in the day had the Split removed due to poor visibility, hence the 64 was styled as such without the Split - I believe the trims around the half windows are difficult to get now

If you read reports from 'the day' there were many complaints about the effect the central 'bar' had on rearwards visibility. This was before the introduction of the '71 to '73 Sportsroof Mustang. Once a pair of large 'meats' were stuck on the rear end visibilty out of the rear window was zero (especially when rear deck spoiler was used)
