Here`s a couple to devide opinions . The Studebaker Avanti and the Edsel . The kinder critics said the Edsels front grill looked like a horses collar . I won`t repeat what the less restrained critics said what it looked like !

Back in '62 the Avanti was billed as the 'Worlds fastest production car'. Personally I loved the asymmetric shape and remember one campaigning on British race circuits to great effect back in the late '60's. I visited the Pine Ridge car Museum near Melbourne Australia several years ago and discovered the owner had a shedload of them.

Dad had a beautiful Avanti, I wasn’t too keen on the front styling at the time. He took it in a PX again a nearly new 1977 caprice . It had a blaupunkt Berlin stereo in it, and the unit had the remote control on a stork. Very futuristic and EXPENSIVE at the time.

Just got in, Charles bronson’s death wish 2 is on. His girlfriend in the film ( and real life wife) Jill Ireland is driving a lovely 66 sting Ray convertible. Great for that California sunshine

Indeed they were fast and advanced design for the era but the looks were perhaps a bit too `out there ` for some tastes .

The 66 that Jill Ireland was driving looked like a very nice straight unmolested example. Factory hubcaps still there. Only thing I didn’t like about it was it had a rear luggage rack fitted.
now I love the racks on a C3 corvette but NOT on a mid year. Just doesn’t look right to my eyes.

Totally agree , I keep expecting to see snorkel and flippers on the trunk lid .
