Scare me !!!!! whats under the hood of the C3 .............
Nothing big , only a tinsy 305 cube 1985 Camaro IROC - Z engine swap that gives a higher comp ratio than a bog standard 350 . Shorter stroke revs better and it runs a 650 cfm Edelbrock Performer carb on an Edelbrock Torker 2 single plain manifold .

I went side by side with Andy Rouse round Silverstone.......... thought i was doing great but he was just playing with me ......... what an experiance though

Mmmmmmm ok yea revs are the key .......... might be tempted to pit it against Vera my C3 with my home built elastic band motor .......only in a straight line mind.....no second thoughts will stick with my Gen6 Camaro SS......... might even switch on the Nitros if there is money at stake !!!!

It’s only a small block at the moment. 355cui, all steel, 750 Holley. Basically a mid 70s NASCAR motor. It was beyond the capacity of the rolling road but I reckon around 500bhp at 7000rpm on super unleaded.57162066-9E67-4F48-805F-F28FE73BCF00.jpeg

I've never made-it to the Brighton Speed trials - it always seem to come up too quickly and miss it. Used to have a buddy (Rob Smith) a good few years who ran a pale yellow modified 'street' mid 70's Camaro regularly at the 'Pod (and the occasional Speed Trials perhaps?). A bit of a nutter driver he got fed up with the numbers of V8 powered Ford Pop's and big block Yanks that would beat him on the quarter. He decided his car had to loose some weight......so rather than strip the Camaro out and use 'glass body panels etc he chose to take a fairy smart ex-minicab Mark 1 Vauxhall/Opel RWD cavalier, painted it a really horrible green colour and effectively transfered much of the Camaro running gear (including a stock width Chevy rear axle) in to the Cavalier, immediately loosing 5 or 6 hundred pounds or more in weight. 'Laughing Cavalier' as it was named overnight became quite 'quite competitive' once more on the 'quarter' and perhaps (if memory serves me correct) at the Brighton Speed Trials?

Great cars both of them 👍 My Escort Super/Thunder saloon won the supersaloon championship in 78 and 79 , in 80 the series was changed to Thunder saloons , a cosworth was shoe horned onto the space frame and it went racing with the likes of Gerry Marshall , Tony Davies in his firenza and co , i actually saw it race at Brands , I was delighted to buy it later down the line , I have only done sprints against the clock (National A open sprint licence ), but all over inc Silverstone Grand prix circuit , I closed Brands for over an hour when the motor blew and sprayed oil everywhere.sold now sadly ..........would absolutly love to see both cars ...... stay in a beefeater and do a run what ya brung weekend sounds good maybe we could gather up anyone who may be interested in that........ mind you im 72 now but i do have the one year old who got lifetime membership this year , so im assuming there is a bit of life in me yet 😉
A dear departed and much missed friend of mine Tony Ward was an ace amateur racer in his younger day and built his own Ford Escort Mk1 race car with a BRM V8 in it . Saw some pics of it and it looked stunning . He raced against Gerry Marshall back in the day . Tony also built the famous CUT 7 Jaguar E Type for Dick Protheroe that is still campaigned to this day .

Gerryies BIG BERTHA was a blue Vauhall Firenza with V8 power ,,, you probably saw him drive that.... he was a bit of a lad on all accounts
Loved his cars - also Bill Blydensteins efforts with DTV Vauxhalls - would have loved a Droopsnoot Firenza.........had to satisfy myself with a 'mere' 2300 Sport SL Firenza 2.jpgFirenza 2-2.jpg

Pete Gretton who runs PJM Race Preperations where I keep my Vette started his early career with DTV Vauxhalls and was himself quite a rally driver having run Silverstone Rally School . He only lives a couple of miles from me and my recently moved neighbour Terry Kabey was an ace rally driver too and his partner Mary worked for Bill Blydenstein . The guy who lives opposite me had his own business at Silverstone Circuit and specialised in fuel injection systems and used to do a lot of work for Toyota Racing . Quite a race bred fraturnity round my way so always plenty to chat about !

Beautiful motor , My fellow CCCUK member Ray has a son named Paul , he imports , repairs and sells original American Nascars , he has 3 of his own at mo , 900hp C Cup motors they were all at Speedfest Last year and will be there at Speedfest 10. Lived in the USA building the race engines until Obama threw everyone who was not born in America out , he is a handy chap to know......... was looking for photos but not to be found at mo .

Laughing Cavalier sounds Great , i dont remember seeing it but you are concentrating on what you are doing and not taking much else in so very possibly there ...

Yes it is . Maybe something to look into for 2023 . I will look at some dates . I am trying to think up a few new things for the region but knowing most of our lot there will be prescious little interest . I got on well with the two brothers of Williams Brothers Racing who are based just a few miles from me . They are major league drag racers and specialise in Chevy V8 engines and did a proper set up and timing job when they fitted my new carb. I tried to set up a Saturday morning visit to their premises with a pub lunch afterwards but got only one reply of interst and that was from the far east of Norfolk not even in our region !!
