1998 C5 Euro Spec - Rear fog lights not working

Hi guys,

Will keep it short. One of my rear fog lights do not work. If it is the bulb, how do I get the cover off without breaking it?

If it's anything else, what steps do I need to follow to diagnose it? Thank you!

Being the fog light lens has no mounting screws,
I suspect you need to go on the backside and the light socket plugs into the lens mount,
so just have to pop the socket off and replace the bulb

If not the bulb than follow the wires, and maybe it is a ground wire issue

Part of me thinks you're right but also, it could be that the cover comes off from the outside, is there any guidance on this online? I've been looking and i've misplaced the owners manual..

I do not know Europe bulbs but if you pop the one-off, the part number would be on it and
assume most auto parts in UK would have them
If that one did go bad, suspect the other side goes bad soon so you should buy a couple of those bulbs

The one you suspect bad is closely looking at the filament in the bulb to see if it is blown or broken

If your C5 was sold by GM as for Europe, then look in the owner's manual for bulb specs should tell you
the part number for that bulb

Do not try to pop the lens off , they have plastic pins attached to them and break very easily . If I can remember you reach the securing bolts via the number plate mount ( I may have got how to reach the bolts wrong as it’s been 20 years since I had to do mine ) but definitely do not pop out. . Cheers

I may be wrong, but securing bolts via the number plate mount that could be a US rear end and not a Euro spec but only a thought.

Hi Ian I have put in another post (C5 Headlights) I don’t think there really is a UK spec C5 Corvette just a Euro spec C5 Corvette with EXP T85 headlights.

Michael.

Follow the service manual URL I posted above instructs how to replace the fog bulbs
