Insurance Hike

Mine went up a grand due to two speeding fines last year. 57 in a 50 in a motorway 'low emission zone' aka entrapment zone. TWICE

I wasn't eligible for a speed awareness course as I've had a 'few' already :cautious:

I drove from Chelsea to Dartford which is mostly 20 mph limits and took forever. I had Waze going and I've just added a Road Angel but neither are perfect. Worst was all the locals that know where the cameras are that want to do 30 or 40 riding your arse between cameras

An offense for 23 in a 20 FFS Khan needs to GO

While I was at the course, got talking to a London black cab driver who was caught doing 32 in a 30 along Euston Road. Crazy or what.

I now spend more time looking at my Speedo than I do the road. New cameras popping up daily to catch you out.

That is just ridiculous.

Money grab at its finest. Both my fines last year were £500 each before the uplift in insurance

I got done for doing 33 mph in a 30 limit in the C3 a few years ago . Bloody ridiculous !! I took the Speed Awareness course and took great delight in baiting the course presenter on how motorists pose a greater threat to road safety by constantly watching their speedo `s instead of concentrating on the road ahead . Especially in areas where speed limits are up and down like a whore`s drawers ! I also challenged the whole ` Speed Kills` speil constantly trotted out . It is inappropriate speed that is is the danger , not speed per se . Speed cameras are just another cash cow for the authorities ! He wouldn`t be drawn on the argument and quickly changed the topic !!

While I agree with you Chuffers and I did get into it over the 20 odd speed cameras on the M42 all reading different speeds on one course.. they can fail you at will and give you back your points. Last two I did on Teams I said as little as possible

I've done three speed awareness courses over the years (and separately collected a considerable number of points). After 'intelligently' arguing every contentious element in the first one, like Mr.Cricket I found that keeping my head down and smiling agreeably got me through the next two much quicker. These days cruise control keeps the points at bay - except when driving the 'Vette! ;)
