More UK C7s, including Oliver Gavin's old company car and C7 Z06 "R" in Ian Allan's yard. One of two UK cars (both yellow, one manual/one automatic).1.jpg5.jpg001.JPG002.JPGoliver gavin 1.jpgoliver gavin 2.jpg067.jpg

My Vette memories only go back to 2002 but there's something about driving your Vette up "The Strip" that will leave lasting memories.

I am very familiar with this car as, during my tenure as Midlands Area rep from 2006 to 2013, it was purchased by one of my members. He had a garage and restored it back to condition complete with Saudi Airlines Graphics. The car was one of several used by the Airline for publicity purposes. In 1977 They were driven from Saudi Arabia to the British Grand Prix. I believe this car is the only one left. When restoring the car he did a huge amount of research and obtained a lot history, as he tracked down one of the drivers from that trip who gave him some memorabilia including a special Saudi Airlines suitcase issued to each driver. Over the next few years the car appeared at numerous car shows around the country, winning many trophies. He must have sold I because the last time I heard anything about it, was at a visit to Lincolnshire Corvettes, It had just been worked on by them, but it wasn't there. This is a picture of the car in it's pomp at a BBQ I organised for Independence Day in 2008 Independence Day BBQ July 4 2008 017, 77vette's Flying deckchair with sidepipes.jpg

Note the 'factory fitted' sports mirrors, as confirmed by the build sheet I gave up with the car. For the life of me I can't understand why a Corvette specialist would replace them with standard types.

'Nicked' them to put on another, and perhaps more saleable car.....?

Hi RED FIVE I have read your post below, this does not answer your question but roughly when they were changed, like you why change them.

(Note the 'factory fitted' sports mirrors, as confirmed by the build sheet I gave up with the car. For the life of me I can't understand why a Corvette specialist would replace them with standard types.)

What is making you think a Corvette specialist changed them, possibly the owner from 2008/2010 preferred the chrome mirrors, I quite like them and being taller I would expect a better rear view.

I would be interested to know if the chrome mirrors used all the old door holes, and also what about the door panels with the mirror adjusting hardware.
I watched the video posted by Chevrolet and it looks as if the door panels may have been changed.

I could make some sense of the change if done when the decals were applied and if the car was painted, but the Dave R photo shows decals and still sports mirrors.

My first photo of John’s car posted 20/3/20 shows the sports mirrors.

Your first photo posted 21/3/20 shows your car without decals and sports mirrors.

JonnyC4 posted 23/3/20 photos from the 2010 Nationals showing the chrome mirrors and decals.

Dave R posted 9/5/20 a photo from there 2008 Independence Day event showing the sports mirrors and decals.

You can watch the episode on demand on UKTV Play (Series 2/Episode 5):

Seller was a Paul Hawkins in Notts/ Buyer Mark Gregory from Hull (his 2nd Vette). Series 2 came out in 2020, so maybe car still in Hull?
Paul Hawkins was the restorer of the vehicle to whom I have referred in my other post. He is a very nice guy
