Car story from today

The Vega looks too much like GM Opels & Vauxhalls of the day for it to be visually exciting..
and that Maverick looks like a Toyota or Mitsubishi.
I prefer classic Yanks to look like Yanks.
That doesnt apply these days because nothing much looks Yank anymore.. unless its retro styled like Challenger/Mustang/Camaro.
Have you seen videos from the seventies, even the eighties, of general traffic on a US road.. the cars look American.
A similar video these days and you could be in Spain or Norway or just about anywhere.

Different times though, back then as American car companies were competing mostly against each other and large 2 ton cars were the thing to have
as most had 4-5 kids to cram in and many of the roads had no speed limits

Then after the japs invaded us selling shitboxes weighing about 2,000 pounds with a dinky 4 banger engines then all changed to try and
get better gas mileage.
Also, then they started killing off American nameplates when even Rambler came out with the AMX with a 390 CI engine with a sweet
4 speed manual tranny and Olds engines were 454 CI

Today women, who are too lazy to have kids are seen driving by themselves in large pick-ups and SUVs that never see more in them but
their fat asses :)

At the other side of this though is my 1974 Corvette back then maybe had 200 HP and only got 9 MPG where today's Corvettes have double or
more HP and get 30 MPG on freeways

Junkyards are packed full of 1970-1980 cars, most from japan.

The cosworth vega was a bit special, but also a bit troublesome.
I kinda liked the look of the Maverick Grabber tho.

Real trick then (as is now) for a super light Gremlin with lots of cube's

Or how about a Mustang 11

Re-branded Japanese cars came with the original 4 banger engines - the Gremlin, Nova, Mustang11 shown previously were all manufactured in the 'States and would have had the option of a V8 (albeit an emission 'friendly' emasculated lump in the same way as our Corvette would be marketed)

Just trying to help... its like Curt Henderson and the Blonde in the T-Bird all over again.
Maybe he should go and have a word with Wolfman Jack. Might get a free Popsicle.
